Job Summary:
The Physical Education (PE) Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering high-quality physical education programs to students across various grade levels. The teacher will promote physical fitness, sportsmanship, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle while adhering to the school’s curriculum standards and promoting an inclusive environment. The teacher will work collaboratively with other faculty members to foster a positive and supportive school culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Delivery:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging PE lessons that align with the school’s curriculum and international standards.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet the varying needs and interests of students.
- Incorporate a variety of sports, activities, and exercises to promote physical fitness and skill development.
- Assessment and Evaluation:
- Assess and evaluate students’ physical abilities, motor skills, and fitness levels.
- Provide constructive feedback and support to help students improve their performance.
- Maintain accurate records of students’ progress and report on their development to parents and school administration.
- Classroom Management:
- Establish a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to maintain discipline and order during PE classes.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during physical activities, both in the gym and outdoors.
- Extracurricular Activities:
- Organize and supervise school sports teams, clubs, and other extracurricular activities.
- Coordinate and participate in school sports events, competitions, and tournaments.
- Professional Development:
- Stay updated on the latest trends, techniques, and best practices in physical education.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the school’s continuous improvement efforts.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with other teachers, staff, and administrators to support the overall educational goals of the school.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding students’ progress and any concerns.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field.
- Teaching certification or license in Physical Education (as required by the school’s location/country).
- Experience:
- A minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience in physical education, preferably in an international or multicultural school setting.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of physical education principles, sports, fitness, and health education.
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive school culture.
Additional Requirements:
- Cultural Sensitivity: Experience working in a multicultural environment and ability to adapt to different cultural contexts.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is an asset.
- First Aid Certification: CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to demonstrate physical activities and participate in school sports events.
