Job Summary:
The Elderly Nursing Care Carer provides assistance and personal care to elderly individuals, particularly those who may have physical, emotional, or mental health needs. This role involves providing support in daily living activities, ensuring the well-being and comfort of elderly clients, and assisting them in maintaining their independence as much as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist with daily personal care routines such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and feeding.
· Help administer prescribed medications as directed by healthcare professionals and ensure the correct dosages and timing are followed.
· Aid clients with movement, including transferring from bed to chair, walking, or using mobility aids.
· Observe and monitor clients’ vital signs and health conditions, reporting any changes or concerns to healthcare providers or family members.
· Provide emotional support and companionship to elderly individuals to reduce feelings of isolation and improve mental well-being.
· Prepare meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of the elderly individuals in your care.
· Keep accurate records of daily activities, changes in health, and any incidents or concerns. Ensure that all information is shared appropriately with the team or family members.
· Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies and follow emergency protocols.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Minimum of SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) or equivalent.
Experience: Experience in elderly care or a related field is a bonus but not mandatory. Training will be provided for suitable candidates.
Skills:
Good interpersonal and communication skills to interact with elderly clients, their families, and healthcare teams.
Patience, compassion, and a caring attitude towards elderly individuals.
Ability to handle physically demanding tasks such as lifting or assisting with mobility.
Knowledge of basic health and safety procedures in caregiving.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in elderly care, nursing homes, or healthcare settings.
Basic knowledge of common health issues faced by the elderly, such as dementia, diabetes, and mobility challenges. Certification or training in elderly care (e.g., caregiver course, nursing assistant, etc.) is advantageous.
Work Hours: Shifts may include weekdays, weekends, and public holidays. Flexibility is important.
Environment: Work is typically conducted in clients' homes
Transport: Have own transport
