Job Overview:
The Head of Retail for Malaysia will be responsible for leading, managing, and developing the retail operations within the country. This role involves overseeing store performance, ensuring operational excellence, driving sales growth, and optimizing profitability. The ideal candidate is a strategic and hands-on leader who can execute business strategies, enhance customer experience and inspire teams to deliver exceptional results.
Key responsibilities:
1) Retail Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement a comprehensive retail strategy in alignment with the overall business goals.
- Lead the expansion and optimization of store locations, including identifying potential sites, analyzing market trends, and managing store openings, relocations, and closures.
- Collaborate with senior management to set revenue and profitability targets for Malaysia.
2) Operations Management
- Ensure efficient day-to-day operations of all retail outlets, including inventory management, merchandising, customer service, and compliance with brand standards.
- Implement standardized operating procedures to optimize productivity and minimize costs.
- Conduct regular performance audits and store evaluations to ensure operational excellence.
3) Sales & Profitability
- Drive the sales strategy to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual targets.
- Monitor sales performance, identifying opportunities for growth and addressing challenges proactively.
- Develop initiatives to increase revenue and manage cost control measures to ensure profitability
4) Customer Experience & Brand Representation
- Ensure that all retail locations deliver exceptional customer service and a consistent brand experience.
- Establish and monitor standards for customer engagement, and implement initiatives to enhance customer loyalty.
- Collaborate with marketing and branding teams to execute campaigns that drive foot traffic and customer retention.
5) Team Leadership & Development
- Build and lead a high-performing retail team, including recruiting, training, mentoring, and performance management.
- Foster a positive work culture that promotes engagement, accountability, and professional growth.
- Set clear KPIs and ensure that all team members are aligned with company goals and values.
6) Market Analysis & Adaptation
- Analyze retail trends, customer behaviors, and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities and potential risks.
- Adapt strategies based on local market insights to ensure relevance and competitiveness in Malaysia.
- Stay updated on the retail industry and economic changes impacting the Malaysian market.
7) Financial Management
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for retail operations in Malaysia.
- Optimize store expenses, manage P&L statements, and ensure alignment with financial goals.
- Work closely with finance teams to analyze and improve the financial performance of retail outlets.
Job requirements:
- At least 7-10 years of experience in retail management, with a strong background in leadership roles.
- Experience in managing multiple stores or regions and overseeing large teams is usually preferred.
- Proven skills in managing, mentoring, and motivating teams at various levels, from store managers to regional supervisors.
- Proficiency in budgeting, financial planning, and P&L management. Heads of retail need to make data-driven decisions that align with financial goals.
- Ability to develop and implement business strategies to enhance customer engagement, sales growth, and brand reputation.
- A strong understanding of market trends and competitor analysis is often required.
- Skills in overseeing daily operations, including inventory management, supply chain logistics, and ensuring store compliance with policies and regulations.
- Strong communication skills for liaising with stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and store personnel, as well as for handling escalated customer issues.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: RM7,000.00 - RM10,000.00 per month
